Artists belonging to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party have formed an association to popularise the party’s achievements and government programs.
The formed association dubbed the “Movement Combined Artistes Association,” is led by Emma Nsereko, popularly known as Munamasaka.
While commissioning their association yesterday (June 4) at the NRM Secretariat, the NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong welcomed the idea of young Artists forming an Umbrella association, noting that a message passed through music goes deeper, has a lot of meaning and can translate messages to the lowest person.
“We love to use your music to translate these messages that we have in books because we speak powerful English words that can not be understood by the lowest person,” Todwong said adding that when you speak about peace that the NRM government brought through music, our people will understand it so well and know where our country has come from and where it is heading.
“As a party, we don’t have an anthem yet, so we are planning to make it a competitive search process. Through the nation, we will get the winner who will get for us a party anthem,” Todwong said.
He appealed to the musicians to continue with building their association, adding that there is a lot of talent in the population that the party would wish to identify and promote.
The NRM Director for Information and Public Relations, Hon Emmanuel Dombo, noted that through the formation of the association, the party and its members will have a network through which they will mobilise other upcoming artists.
“Through this association, we shall not only deliver a message but also coordinate these activities without attacking one another,” Dombo said, adding that this mobilisation strategy will be used throughout the region.
Dombo proposed that the NRM party should simplify the party manifesto into music and art, and with social media.
“Music, art and drama are the easiest way for the masses to understand the work of government and NRM,” Dombo said.
He noted that previously, there has been an effort by the president and the party to support musicians but every time, there have been issues relating to funds emerging.
“I appeal to you to respect one another. The leaders should be transparent and ensure that they coordinate and produce quality music.
When this is done, the NRM government work will be seen through their works of art,” Dombo said, adding that what has disorganised the opposition is a lack of respect amongst themselves.
The director urged the leaders to be transparent while running the association’s activities and avoid bringing issues that will derail them.
Munamasaka commended the party’s top leadership of the NRM Secretariat for welcoming them and pledged to continue mobilizing young artists to raise awareness about the different Government programs and also explain the NRM Achievements to the masses.
