NIRA Plans To Celebrate International Identity Day at City Square,

The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) is gearing up to observe International Identity Day on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at City Square in Kampala.

During the weekly security press brief held at Police Headquarters in Naguru, Osborn Mushabe, the Public Relations Manager, emphasized the significance of this global event.

International Identity Day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the crucial importance of having a legal and recognized identity. It highlights the fundamental right of individuals to possess proper identification, which enables them to access essential services and legal documentation.

Mushabe called upon parents to bring their children, who are currently on school holiday, for registration. The registration requirements include providing photocopies of parents’ IDs and their original national identity cards, among other necessary documents.

Furthermore, the data collected through this registration process plays a pivotal role in national planning for the country, aiding in the formulation and implementation of various policies and programs.

During the upcoming International Identity Day event at City Square, Kampala, the public can take advantage of a range of services. These services encompass registration, obtaining identity cards, acquiring birth certificates, and initiating the process to recover lost identity cards, among others
