Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) has successfully conducted a series of coordinated night operations across the Kampala Metropolitan area, leading to the arrest of 90 suspects linked to a range of criminal activities, including robbery, narcotics trafficking, theft, and other offenses.
SP Kawala Racheal, Police spokesperson for KMP, said the operations were intelligence-led and strategically targeted areas with high criminal activity. The operations also included joint security teams, ensuring rapid response and effective enforcement even under challenging conditions.
In Mukono District, police recovered six motorcycles believed to have been used in a series of robberies. Nine suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation carried out in Bajjo at approximately 3:00 a.m. on 5th March 2026. Residents of the area had reported multiple incidents of attacks, both during the day and at night. Intelligence indicated that the suspects were hiding in an unfinished house in the area. A police task team quickly moved in and arrested six suspects from the premises, recovering stolen motorcycles and other evidence.

In Kira Division, police conducted an operation in Mbalwa, Namugongo targeting suspected narcotics dealers. During the operation, three suspects were arrested while allegedly processing opium into sticks intended for sale to criminal elements. SP Kawala noted that these operations are part of a broader effort to curb drug-related crimes within the Kampala Metropolitan area.
Operations in Katwe Division, particularly along Salama Road and surrounding areas in the Kisangani slums, led to the arrest of 64 suspects suspected of engaging in various criminal activities. These operations focused on hotspots where criminals have been exploiting residents and motorists.
On 4th March 2026, police officers were deployed around Mukwano Roundabout and the Punjani stretch despite heavy rainfall and traffic congestion. The deployment specifically targeted criminals who take advantage of traffic jams to steal motor vehicle parts, snatch phones, and rob motorists and pedestrians.
In Entebbe, security personnel conducted operations in Nakawuka, resulting in the arrest of 14 suspects linked to theft and other criminal activities.

In total, 90 suspects were apprehended during these coordinated night operations. All suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing processing, and will face prosecution in accordance with Ugandan law.
SP Kawala Racheal emphasized that the operations demonstrate the commitment of the Kampala Metropolitan Police to enhancing public safety and security through proactive policing.
“These operations reflect our commitment to maintaining law and order. We are determined to tackle crime head-on and ensure that criminals cannot operate with impunity in our communities. The arrests and recovery of stolen motorcycles are part of our broader strategy to improve safety for all residents,” she said.
The Police spokesperson also called on the public to continue providing timely information and intelligence, which has been instrumental in facilitating these successful operations.
“These operations are part of an ongoing effort to ensure that residents can live safely without fear of criminal attacks. We urge community members to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious activities to the authorities,” SP Kawala added.
