A water vessel transporting revelers capsized on Lake Victoria, killing several people.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that over 20 people are dead but a message on the Uganda Police twitter handle says 10 bodies have been pulled out of the water in an ongoing operation.
At least 40 people have been rescued, according to the police message. Some of the people said to have been on the boat are; singer Irene Namubiru and Buganda Prince David Kintu Wasajja, a brother to the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Mutebi. Sources say the two are among those that have been rescued alive.
Dozens are still unaccounted for.
