NDA Cautions Public on Nutritional Supplement with Erectile Dysfunction Medication
The National Drug Authority (NDA) has seized a shipment of L-Coffee intended for import into the country, which was falsely labeled as a nutritional supplement.
The sachets of L-Coffee contain a blend of high-quality Arabica and Robusta coffee beans, promoting their product as an energy-enhancing solution.
However, the NDA has raised a grave concern as their thorough examinations done at the quality control laboratory have revealed that the supplement has harmful substances that can be harmful to one’s health .
In an official statement, the NDA, Abiaz Rwamiri, the spokesperson at the NDA disclosed that their tests have identified a distressing case of adulteration.
He explains that the concealed seemingly innocent sachets contain Tadalafil, a prescription medication traditionally used to address erectile dysfunction. The unauthorized presence of a potent prescription drug within a coffee product poses serious health risks to unsuspecting consumers.
Rwamiri says the product has potential side effects, ranging from severe respiratory and cardiac complications to urinary disorders. The cumulative impact of these adverse effects could potentially be life-threatening.
Rwamiri revealed that each box containing ten sachets fetched a staggering USD50 on the market in Malaysia.
He adds that the NDA seized a substantial quantity a total of seventy-five boxes, equating to a staggering seven thousand five hundred sachets.
The NDA has cautioned the public to exercise heightened vigilance and has directed importers who have dealt with L-Coffee, to recall the products from the market.
Rwamiri saysTadalafil is an ingredient that is strictly administered under the watchful eye of healthcare practitioners.
