Mysterious Dark Rain Sparks Fear and Speculation in Busia

However, Jimmy Ngolobe, the Busia District environment officer, suggested that the dark rain might result from mass pollution of the atmosphere.
He explained that rainwater, normally colorless, can change color due to soluble particles in the atmosphere caused by pollution.
Despite these insights, Ngolobe stressed the need for environmental laboratory tests on the black rainwater before making conclusive judgments.
“Ideally, rainwater is supposed to be colorless and clear; therefore, any change in color points to pollution of the atmosphere,” he said
