Museveni Warns Mbale NRM Leaders Against Sectarianism

President Yoweri Museveni has warned National Resistance Movement leaders in Mbale against sectarianism, advising them to embrace unity and service delivery.

Museveni emphasized that what people most need is service delivery rather than divisionism along with tribal and religious differences.

He raised the concern while meeting party leaders in Mbale on Tuesday.

President Museveni has been a strong advocate for the politics of interests rather than identity his entire political career.

Recently, Mr Museveni explained that the strength of the NRM and its ability to govern for over three decades is rooted in the party’s push for the population’s interests instead of identity.

Party cadres, therefore, must appreciate this and make the same case if the party is to continue prospering, he added.

Mr Museveni, who is the NRM Presidential flag bearer has been encouraing NRM leaders wherever he goes to; “Tell our people they should support the NRM because it does not look at people’s identity but interests.”

“That is why it has been able to build a  strong national army, unite the politics, bring peace, attract local and foreign business, produce goods and services, collect more taxes, cause social-economic transformation and work with other African states for a strong continent.”
