The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has outlined extensive plans to uplift tea farmers in Bunyangabu District, emphasizing the importance of proper land use and the adoption of commercial agriculture practices.

President Museveni explained that tea farmers can significantly increase their income by embracing economies of scale, noting that large-scale farmers will receive substantial government support.
He tasked Bunyangabu’s renowned tea growers to re-evaluate their earnings per acre and use the findings to guide small-scale farmers on improving profitability, as government prepares to inject 360 billion shillings into the tea sector.

Addressing a large crowd during the NRM presidential campaign rally at Kibiito Secondary School Playgrounds in Bunyangabu District, Rwenzori Sub-region, Museveni attributed delays in major infrastructure projects to poor prioritization by legislators responsible for budget allocation.

He stressed that diverting resources to non-priority sectors at the expense of roads, electricity, railways, and other critical economic enablers has adverse macro-economic effects. The President urged Members of Parliament to strictly follow the priority framework outlined in the NRM manifesto.
Museveni confirmed the upcoming reconstruction of several key tarmac roads within and around Bunyangabu District, listing them for supporters at the rally. He added that Uganda’s poverty-eradication initiatives are showing tangible progress and encouraged residents to embrace the viable economic enterprises proposed in the NRM manifesto.
The NRM flag bearer also guided the people of Bunyangabu on the proper implementation of the 4-Acre Model, a transformative wealth-creation strategy championed by the government. He highlighted job opportunities created under NRM leadership—particularly in commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, ICT, and skills development—citing the successes of the Presidential Zonal Industrial Skilling Hubs.
Museveni revealed that government has already made payments to the contractor handling the Mityana–Mubende–Fort Portal road project and cautioned leaders against misappropriating public funds. He further announced plans to reconstruct the Bundibugyo Road in the Rwenzori Sub-region, noting that the necessary funds have already been secured.
On education, the President pledged to strengthen the district’s education sector, adding to the existing network of 61 government primary schools and 8 government secondary schools.
Concluding his address, Museveni reaffirmed the NRM’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the country. He called on the people of Bunyangabu District to play an active role in safeguarding stability to ensure continued development and sustained socioeconomic transformation.
