President Yoweri Museveni tasked Medical Doctors and Engineers to report crafty officials in districts demanding money for jobs.

President Museveni said this during a luncheon meeting with the scientists who were sponsored by State House to study at university.

He tasked scientists to record and report corrupt District Service Commissioners who extort money from them in exchange for jobs.

“Record whoever asks for money from you we shall deal with them,” he assured.

President Museveni hailed the team for properly utilizing the government scholarship by  finishing their studies on time. He indicated that since the State House scholarship program begun, several learners have benefited with opportunities to study from primary up to university.

“These scholarships started after the war in Luweero and were meant to benefit the orphans,  many students have been sponsored to study from primary, secondary up to university.” he revealed.

The president promised to improve on the welfare of medical practitioners by improving on their working conditions, health facilities and their welfare.

As part of his promises, the President pledged to improve on the welfare of medical personnel and health facilities to boost the medical sector.

He promised better equipped medical facilities, more houses are constructed for doctors near their workplaces and better pay.

The President also pledged to educate the children of medical doctors and other health workers who died of COVID-19 while saving lives during the pandemic period.

Dr. Samuel Oledo Odongo, the president of Uganda Medical Association (UMA), was present at the event and thanked President Museveni for giving young scientists a future by sponsoring their education.

“You picked us from far in our villages and sponsored our education, we thank you father,” Dr. Oledo said.

He also told the President that as doctors they are willing to volunteer for a full year before they are formally recruited.

Museveni called on the scientists not only to concentrate on treating people but help their communities to develop and fight poverty by sensitizing them to embrace government programs, like the Parish Development Model and the four-acre model.

“Help your relatives to stop working for the stomach only.”
