President Yoweri Museveni yesterday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Deputy Attorney General, Jackson Kafuuzi at State House, Entebbe. He took the oaths of allegiance Deputy Attorney General.

In his brief remarks, President Museveni congratulated Mr. Kafuuzi on his new appointment saying that he deemed him as a young man and steadfast person.

The President said that he had nominated Mr. Kafuuzi for the post of Deputy Attorney General with the aim of fighting corruption in the judicial system.

“We fought wars of dictatorship, backwardness and we now have a war of corruption. There are two types of corruption that must be fought in the judicial system and that is State Attorneys colluding with criminals to escape and having people in that office who come up with exorbitant amounts of money when it comes to compensation to be done by the government,” he said.

Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu and the Government Chief Whip, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, among others, witnessed the ceremony.
