President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that the Government will establish industrial zones in each Sub-County in the country so that Ugandans can easily access training and support in organized ways. He also pledged support to Ugandns to enable citizens realize their potential.

The President was passing out over 9000 graduands from Wakiso District in Central Region, who have successfully completed skills’ training in various disciplines.

The skilled graduands, who included women and the youth, received training under the Sseninde Foundation established by State Minister for Primary Education Hon. Rosemary Sseninde, who is also Woman MP for Wakiso District.

The trainees received skills in catering and hotel hospitality, tailoring, hairdressing, bakery, piggery, making paper bags and making charcoal from garbage, among others.

During the pass out ceremony that took place today in Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in Wakiso District, the President used the occasion to sound a wake-up call to all Ugandans and Africans in general to embrace commercial agriculture as well as value addition to their products, such as shoe making, milk processing, furniture and sweaters, among others, saying that will stop the habit of donating value to foreign markets.

“Africa is rich. If you want to know it, look at your selves. Look at the shirt you are putting on and look at your shoes. If we start producing them here, we will save a lot of money that we donate to foreign markets,” he said.

He commended Hon. Sseninde for the good initiative of empowering Ugandans. He donated an assortment of equipment to the foundation and also pledged Shs.500 million to the Foundation to constitute a revolving fund to the organization at 1% interest per month.

Hon. Rosemary Sseninde, on her part, thanked the President for sparing time to witness the achievements of the Foundation. She also saluted him for the support in empowering Ugandans.
