President Yoweri Museveni has praised Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja for her unwavering commitment to public service and effective leadership during a thanksgiving ceremony held in her honour in Kakumiro District on Saturday.
Nabbanja, who also serves as the Woman MP for Kakumiro District, hosted the President at her country home on a day marked by the commissioning of key development projects and a public address that drew hundreds of residents and local leaders.
Museveni began the day with a tour of the Kakumiro Model Training and Skilling Agricultural Innovations Farm, an initiative championed by Nabbanja to promote commercial farming in the region. The President lauded the facility as a practical step toward transforming rural livelihoods through modern agriculture.
Following the tour, he commissioned the newly built Hotel Classic Kakumiro, a hospitality project expected to enhance tourism and stimulate local economic growth.
While addressing the public, Museveni reemphasized the significance of commercial agriculture, specifically the 4 Acre Model, as the cornerstone for sustainable household income. “You can change your lives by engaging in agriculture and dairy. Those with up to four acres of land can use this model, and others will follow,” he said.
He also used the occasion to highlight his reasons for appointing Nabbanja as Prime Minister, describing her as a leader with the right approach to work and governance. “The reason some people fail is because they do not have the correct methods of work. With the NRA and the army, we always perfected both the mission and the methods. That is why we succeed,” Museveni said.
He assured the people of Bunyoro and Uganda at large of continued peace and security, citing the strength and professionalism of the UPDF. “There will be no war here. The UPDF is capable of crushing any threat. Peace has brought order and enabled progress,” he added.
In an emotional tribute, Nabbanja expressed her gratitude to Museveni for his trust and support throughout her political journey. “Your Excellency, I thank you for appointing me as Uganda’s first female PM. The entire Bunyoro sub-region celebrated. I began in 1998 as a District Councilor, became Deputy RDC in 2001, later full RDC, then MP in 2011. I owe all this to you. You are my hero,” she said.
She also thanked the President for creating Kakumiro District, which was carved out of Kibaale District, noting the positive impact it has had on service delivery in the region.
Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, commended the President for championing development in Bunyoro, urging locals to continue supporting the NRM government to ensure further progress.
The thanksgiving ceremony was attended by several cabinet ministers, MPs, religious leaders, and dignitaries from across the country.
