President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday hosted six envoys recently posted to Uganda at the State House Entebbe, following bilateral ties with their respective countries.
Among them included; H.E Nguyen Nam Tien, the ambassador of Vietnam to Uganda who was in the company of H.E King Ceasor Mulenga T.G, Muhammad Hassan Wazir (Pakistan), Ahmed Ibrahim Ahmed Awadelseed (Sudan), Maj Gen (Rtd) George Aggrey Awinow (Kenya), Ismail Ayobami Alatise (Nigeria), and Damptey Bediako Asare (Ghana).
The President, in meetings held, assured his allies of Uganda’s profound commitment in strengthening its bilateral ties with them. The meeting ceremony was attended by the Minister of Foreign affairs, Gen Hajj Abubaker Jeje Odongo and other senior government officials.
During a meeting, Ambassador Nguyen of Vietnam committed to further strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two countries.
Kenyan envoy Maj Gen (Rtd) George Aggrey Awinow discussed trade and the just concluded election developments in the neighbouring Kenya.
The Pakistan envoy Muhammed Hassan Wazir, acknowledged a good working relationship between Pakistan and Uganda, describing President Museveni as the father to the nation and Africa at large.
In his encounter with the Sudanese Ambassador, Awadelseed, the President hailed Sudan as a big importer of Uganda’s unprocessed coffee, next to Italy. He encouraged Sudan investments in Value Addition to Ugandan Coffee for dual development.
In the meeting held with Ayobami of Nigeria, the President called for the involvement of the citizens in solving the Boko-Haram crisis and other extremist groups.
“Since the group targets innocent civilians, use the people to fight insecurity since they are targets,” he advised.
