While commissioning Saachi Technologies’ assembly plant for domestic electric appliances like flat irons, televisions and refrigerators in Kampala, Museveni said that within a week, he has commissioned four industries.
The President said more investors will set up factories because the government has invested in power generation which has guaranteed electricity for production.
“There is an explosion of factories because of what we did with electricity and we are going to open more,” Museveni said.
Led by the company’s director, Anand Nainani, the President was given a guided tour of the facility where items including television sets, loud speakers and flat irons among other appliances will be assembled.
The facility is located in Ntinda Industrial Area.
Also in attendance was Evelyn Anite, the state minister of finance for investment and privatisation, among other dignitaries.
From 2017, Saachi started assembling domestic home appliances in the country, having previously imported the same items since 2004.
