President Yoweri Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the land forces had fired and replaced the first son and Commander of Land Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba .
Muhoozi has been replaced by Gen Kayanja Muhanga, the current commander of Operation Shujaa who has been upgraded to the rank of Lieutenant General.
The UPDF spokesperson Brig Felix Kulayigye confirmed the news in a statement.
Muhoozi has however been promoted from Lt General to a full general with four stars according to the new changes.
On his active twitter account moments ago, the first son changed his credentials from Commander Land Forces to now read: Special Presidential Advisor/Special Operations.
These changes come as Muhoozi’s posted a series of controversial tweets on overthrowing the neighbouring Nairobi, Kenya, as plans to have a larger united federation of East Africa led by President Museveni are underway.
He posted that Ugandan armed forces are capable of overthrowing Kenya in the next two weeks.And that he would occupy one of the wealthiest places after the capture.
“It would take us, my army and me two weeks to capture Nairobi. After we capture Nairobi, where should I live? Westlands? Riverside?”
He goes on to write, “I am happy that members of our district in Kenya have responded enthusiastically to my tweet. It’s still two weeks to Nairobi.”he writes
In another tweet he posted,”Had a good discussion with my great father this morning. Apparently, my tweets scared Kenyans too much? He will announce the changes. There is a special prayer I shall make for our army.” He said
He adds in another tweet; “After capturing Nairobi, I shall take my wife on a tour of our district.”
He further states; “After we create our East African Federation. President Museveni will be President, Afande Ruto will be Vice President, My brother Uhuru will be Foreign Affairs Minister. I just want to be CDF of the East African forces.
The tweets have drawn controversy from members of the public both in Kenya and Uganda.
Following his tweets, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed the sentiments of the Commander Land Forces saying Uganda respects and enjoys cordial working relationship with Kenya.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to clarify that the government of the Republic of Uganda doesn’t conduct its foreign policy and other official business through social media nor does it depend on social media sources in dealing with other sovereign governments,” the statement said in part.
