In the spirit of giving and community, MTN MoMo successfully concluded its special Ramadan Remittances Campaign, an initiative designed to reward loyal customers who sent or received money from abroad during the holy month of Ramadan. The campaign underscored the values of connection, generosity, and spiritual reflection during this sacred time.

As part of the promotion, customers who transacted internationally using MTN MoMo stood a chance to win shopping vouchers and a fully sponsored pilgrimage to Mecca. During the campaign, 30 customers received Ramadan shopping vouchers worth UGX 200,000, and an additional 10 customers were awarded Eid shopping packages valued at UGX 400,000 to support preparations for the holiday.

The grand highlight of the campaign was the awarding of fully paid trips to Mecca to six lucky winners. During a handover ceremony held at the MTN MoMo Offices travel packages were given to five of the recipients—Sulaiman Kakomo, Farida Nagujja, Jamil Ecum, Fatuma Kakayi, and Ismail Wakoko. The sixth winner will receive the package through MTN MoMo’s partners in Dubai.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Fatumah Shamim Kavuma, Manager, Remittances and Interoperability at MTN MoMo Uganda, emphasized the deeper purpose of the campaign. “This campaign was about more than just rewards; it was a way to recognize and support our customers during a significant time of year. We’re proud to have connected families, supported religious journeys, and brought joy through every MoMo transaction made from abroad,” Kavuma said.

She further noted that MTN MoMo remains committed to enriching the lives of its customers. “At MTN MoMo, we believe that everyone should not only enjoy the benefits of a modern, connected life but also remain grounded in their faith. Together, our faith is unstoppable,” she added.

Recipients of the grand prize expressed their appreciation for the timely support from MTN MoMo. “I am delighted that my dream of going to Mecca is finally becoming a reality,” said Farida Nagujja, who qualified for the reward after sending money to Kenya via MTN MoMo.

“This reward has made it much easier for me to travel to Mecca and fulfill the Hajj, in accordance with Islamic teachings,” noted Ismail Wakoko, who received the trip after a remittance transaction from his daughter in Dubai. Wakoko added that while he had always aspired to perform the Hajj, the high costs had previously made it unattainable.

MTN MoMo continues to demonstrate its dedication to creating meaningful and impactful experiences for its customers. The company remains a leader in providing fast, secure, and convenient international money transfer services, supporting both financial and personal aspirations across borders.
