MTN GIFTS BRAND NEW TRUCK TO A KITOORO FRUIT VENDOR

A news story on NTV Uganda’s “Akawungeezi” news bulletin of how Night Ampurire a fruit vendor in Kitooro town, Wakiso District was making ends meet has changed her life curtesy of MTN Uganda.

Night Ampurire, a humble fruit vendor and mother of five, captured the hearts of MTN Staff and Management, with her determination to provide for her family, even as she drove a rundown pickup truck to keep her business afloat. What started as a simple act of resilience two weeks ago, has blossomed into a powerful story of hope and community.

On the afternoon of 27th August 2024, MTN Uganda team, led by CEO Sylvia Mulinge, surprised Night at the market with a brand-new pickup truck. The joy on her face as her old truck was replaced, fruit by fruit, was a moment she and the MTN team will never forget as she danced and thanked MTN for this great surprise that will transform her business.

“Today, we don’t just hand over a new truck; we celebrate the power of resilience, the strength of community, and the unstoppable spirit of a woman who refused to give up. Night Ampurire, your journey inspires us all. Together, we are unstoppable” said Sylvia Mulinge. She further said that Night’s story is not just about one woman’s journey it’s about the strength, resilience, and spirit of our entire community.

The Nissan Hardbody pick up truck also came with a specialised car seat to carry Night’s child when going to work. The seat was a gift from MTN Women headed by Enid Edroma.

“We are excited to see where this new chapter takes Night and her business. This is why we do what we do to make a real difference in the lives of people who embody the true spirit of determination and hard work” said Enid.
