MPs to investigate wealth of Bank of Uganda bosses
Members of Parliament in the Committee of Commissions, Statutory Authority and State Enterprises (COSASE) have asked Bank of Uganda Deputy Governor Louis Kasekende and former Executive Director in charge of Supervision Justine Bagyenda to avail documents detailing their wealth and how it was accumulated.
This comes after the probe in the closure of 7 defunct Banks on Thursday hit a stalemate after MPs demanded that a report detailing Kasekende’s wealth should be tabled publicly while But the COSASE chairperson Abdu Katuntu (Bugweri County) rejected the move saying that documents should be given to a sub-committee that has been handling confidential documents since the probe started.
This comes at a time the committee has started the probe on the controversial closure of Crane Bank — formerly owned by tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia.
