Police in Kassanda district have recovered a one-month-old baby girl who was stolen from her mother on October 16, 2023, during an immunization visit at Kiganda Health Centre IV.
The missing child was found safe and sound on October 18, 2023, at Waybridge, Mubende Municipality, Mubende District following an intelligence led operation. She has been joyfully reunited with the mother Kyarimpa Peace, after a thorough medical examination confirmed the baby’s well-being.
The baby was kidnapped by Nankabirwa Esseza, 19, a resident of Kalamba Town Council in Kassanda district, after she lied to her boyfriend and a falsified pregnancy.
Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson says Nankabirwa is currently in custody at Kassanda Central Police Station (CPS), and further inquiries are ongoing to gather more details about the case.
