The Deputy Chief Justice of Uganda Alphonse Owiny Dollo is the guest of honor. Senior government and UPDF leaders are also present including the Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi, Commander Land Forces Lt Gen Peter Elwelu and Kampala Minister Beti Kamya.

The state minister for veteran affairs, Lt Col (Rtd) Bright Rwamirama, Joint Chief of Staff Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu, Deputy IGP Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi also attended the thanksgiving ceremony.

Rev Fr Paulino Mondo in his remarks said that Jesus and other biblical figures including Abraham, St Paul, and others were also soldiers, adding that God has His eyes on the UPDF to ensure His will is done in Uganda.

He also thanked the UPDF for being good ambassadors of Uganda, adding that the Force has helped in the transformation of the country by ensuring total peace.

He used the thanksgiving day to extend gratitude to the commander in chief and president of Uganda for leading the country well.

“Uganda has been peaceful and everything including fish is able to gro. those who say will not vote him (Museveni) in the 2021 election, you will be ashamed because fish will vote for him,” said the clergyman.

Holy bullet

The clergyman also urged Gen Tumwine who shot the first bullet that kicked off the 1981 liberation war to treasure the gun he used.

“In 1981, the holy bullet was shot, I want to ask Gen Tumwine to protect that holy gun that shot that holy bullet, don’t allow it to just be taken to the museum,” Rev Fr Paulinus said.
