Ministry of Defence Joins Pan Africanists to Celebrate Africa Liberation Day
Every year, Africans commemorate Africa Liberation Day, a celebration chosen by the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), the precursor to the African Union (AU).
The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs joins forces with Pan Africanists to mark this significant day on May 25th, 2024.
This year, the ministry has once again partnered with the Pan African Movements to celebrate the day, aligning with the ideology of patriotism and pan-Africanism, as consistently emphasized by Commander-in-Chief, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Guaranteeing a safe environment for a digital Pan African Education System: Creating a center of gravity for the United African States (UAS)”.
Through this celebration, the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs also honors Pan-African heroes such as Kwame Nkrumah, Mwalimu Nyerere, and the gallant officers and men of the UPDF who have made the ultimate sacrifice for peace and stability across the African continent.
This day is also dedicated to our comrades serving in Pan-African duties in Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and elsewhere.
