Minister Nabakooba Urges Low-Income Earners to Embrace Property Saving Schemes
The Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Judith Nabakooba, has called on low-income earners to take advantage of new property saving schemes introduced by real estate companies, which are designed to help people acquire property.
The minister made the remarks while presiding over the issuance of more than 200 land titles to clients of Fabulous Beautiful Homes in Bweyogerere, Wakiso District. The beneficiaries had been diligently saving for the past year to purchase land through the initiative.
“It is about trust and hard work. Keep up with the saving culture, and you will continue to register more achievements in life,” Nabakooba said.
She emphasized the importance of saving, noting that achieving significant milestones does not always require a large amount of money. The minister encouraged the beneficiaries to make the most of their newly acquired land by developing it responsibly.
“We believe that everyone can own what they call a home. Once you achieve that, you will have a sense of pride and accomplishment. Make sure to develop your property in line with the approved estate plans,” she added.
Minister Nabakooba also advised the new landowners to protect their titles against fraudulent activities. She urged them to regularly verify the status of their land titles using the newly established national land information system.
“Land information is readily available on our portal. Open an account and check the status of your titles to ensure everything is in order,” she emphasized.
The minister commended Immaculate Nantongo, the Chief Executive Officer of Fabulous Beautiful Homes, for leveraging social media to address pressing community needs.
She also encouraged the public to take advantage of government programs designed to improve livelihoods, such as the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, and GROW.
Ms. Nantongo revealed that since the initiative began in 2018, over 2,300 individuals have become landowners through their savings scheme.
“I am grateful to the minister. Ever since she assumed the role of Lands Minister, service delivery has greatly improved. The process and timeframe for acquiring a land title have significantly reduced, and we now have access to land information online,” Nantongo said.
The initiative continues to inspire low-income earners to pursue property ownership, demonstrating that with discipline and trust, significant achievements are within reach.
