The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces has donated exercise books to Mazzi Church of Uganda Primary School in Kamila sub-county Luweero District at a function presided over by the Hon Dr John Chrysostom Muyingo the Minister for Higher Education.

Schools that benefited from this symbolic civil-military activity to mark the 39th Tarehe Sita anniversary included: Kyakadoko Church of Uganda Primary school in Kakoge, Mazzi Church of Uganda Primary School in Kamila Sub-county Luweero district, Lukole SS in Nyimbwa sub-county in Luweero district and St Pius Naddangira P/s Kakiri Town council in Wakiso District.

Each of the above schools received 1440 books, making a grand total of 10,080 books donated by the UPDF Chieftancy of Education, Sports, and Culture.

Hon DR JC Muyingo in his remarks applauded the UPDF for the giving heart that will see schools in the region improve their education standards.
He further praised UPDF Engineers Brigade for exhibiting high levels of discipline as they did the engineering works in the region.

The Chief Political Commissar (CPC) Brig Henry Matisko commended the people of Luwero for allowing their children to participate in the liberation struggle, that finally ushered in peace and development.

The Chief of Education Sports and Culture (CESC) Brig Wilson Muhabuzi while handing over the books said that it was the District body that sat and selected the schools which are to benefit from the civil-military activities. He reminded the audience at Mazzi that the theme for the 39th Tarehe Sita is aimed at consolidating the UPDF strategic partnership with the people to safeguard gains of liberations and therefore the act of sharing the little his department has is to fulfill that theme.

Mr. Tenywa Thomas the headmaster of Mazzi Church of Uganda Primary School thanked UPDF for the offer of supplying exercise books to pupils in his school and argued parents to provide food for their children during school times.

The occasion was attended by senior UPDF officers, religious leaders, and area political heads among others.
