State Minister for Higher Education Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo issued a stern warning to schools, advising against the premature reopening of the upcoming school term, slated to begin on 5th February.

Muyingo emphasized the illegality of such actions while speaking at thanksgiving ceremony held at Varelia Nakiwala’s residence in Busiika, Ziroobwe Town Council.

He further stated that such schools are not interested  in the welfare of children but are only hungry for money.

The minister called on parents not to be swept away by the trend but instead use the holiday season to nurtute their kids and teach them other skills.

He urged District Education Officers (DEO’s)to take decisive action against schools flouting the official start date.

The minister said the government is committed to maintaining the integrity of the education system, including the significance of compliance with regulations.

According to the official Ministry of Education and Sports calendar schools resume learning on Febuary 05, 2024 .
