The Political infighting in Bunyoro keeps on rising everyday especially among the National Resistance Movement(NRM) politicians due to a number of them that have decided to contest as Independents because of accusations and widespread allegations of irregularities and unfair practices during the NRM primaries.
These NRM Independents in Bunyoro are disguising their independent bids as a protest against irregularities and malpractices in the party electoral process.
Politicians who decided to contest as Independents include Uthman Kadir Mubarak the L.C.5 Chairman of Hoima district, Susan Asimwe has decided to contest as woman member of parliament Hoima District and Harriet Businge the current woman Member of Parliament Hoima district.
It’s upon this background that Mary Mugasa, the Minister of state for Public service has on a number of occasions de-campaigned NRM Independents, calling them bad people. However according to the former Resident District Commissioner of Kikuube District, Amlan Tumusiime, the minister has no moral authority to decampaign such politicians because she has also contested as an independent before in the 2021 general elections and was defeated.
” Minister Mugasa has contested as a Mayor of Hoima city in 2021 as an independent and was defeated by Brain Kaboyo and so she lacks moral authority to decampaign NRM independents such as Uthman Kadir, Amlan Tumusiime said. ” Another Politician who has no Moral authority is Vincent Muhumuza who has contested four times in Hoima district as an independent before, added Tumusiime.
