Minister Lugoloobi Charged, Remanded to Luzira Prison Until April 20, 2023

State Minister for Finance and Planning also a member of Parliament for Ntejeru North Constituency Hon.Amos Lugolobi has been remanded him to Luzira prison until April 20, 2023 when a ruling will be made on his bail.

The Minister who earlier today appeared before the Anti Corruption Court was charged with two counts of dealing with suspect property. He pleaded not guilty.

Court presided over by Justice Albert Asimwe has postponed the Minister’s bail ruling on grounds that he needed more time to verify all documents presented to him including land titles and bank statements.

His his lawyers John Isabirye and Tonny Tumukunde, applied for his bail stating that the Minister has a heart disease Asthma and Diabetes and is on medication as prescribed by the Agha Khan hospital.

They presented documents from the heart institute and stated that he has been on meds since his arrest on Friday evening.

They also presented suretiesincluding; Hon. Nayigaga Mariam,Namutumba District woman mp, Hon James Kakooza MP East African Parliament, Hon Kefa Kiwanuuka Mp Kiboga East .In addition to two land titles, and other documents.

They stated that the accused is a Member of Parliament and a Minister in this government whose place of residence is well known.

The State represented by Stanley Moses and Samunyu Daniel however objected to the bail request stating that investigations will be done in a short time and Lugoloobi’s release would only interfere with ongoing investigations.

They further requested the court to grant them between two to three days to verify details of the land titles and other documents they have received.

The told court that Hon. Lugolobi can be managed within the Luzira prison’s health facilities.

Justice Asimwe postponed the bail ruling to April 20th, 2023
