Mbarara City Festival to Showcase Local Talent

Mbarara City is preparing for its annual festival, scheduled for June 21-22, 2024. Organized by Destination Ankole, the event aims to position Mbarara as a key trade and hospitality hub.

This year’s headliner is the acclaimed musician RayG, who proudly hails from the city.

At the festival launch, RayG highlighted the significance of promoting local culture, language, and cuisine to elevate Mbarara City’s profile. He expressed deep gratitude to the city and its residents for their unwavering support throughout his career.

“I arrived in this city with nothing but determination. You supported me, fed me, and have stood by me all along,” RayG remarked.

RayG called on fellow musicians from Ankole to unite for a successful festival, emphasizing that collective efforts can achieve more. Echoing this sentiment, Mbarara City Clerk Assay Abireebe underscored the festival’s goals of showcasing Mbarara as a business hub, tourist destination, and attractive location for investors.

The festival will feature an exhibition hub for local businesses, with organizers anticipating over 500,000 attendees. “This event presents a lucrative opportunity for locals, particularly traders, Boda Boda operators, restaurants, pork joints, and lodges,” stated Edmand Aryampika, proprietor of Destination Ankole.
