Police are yet to release findings from a recently launched investigation into the mysterious death of Martha Ahumuza, the 23-year-old daughter of Seth Murari, who collapsed while socializing with friends at Mezo Noir Bar in Kololo on Wednesday.

Preliminary reports suggest that Ahumuza collapsed at around 3 AM while enjoying drinks with friends. Edward Mugabi, a cashier at the bar, immediately took her to the manager’s office, but since there is no CCTV footage, authorities are working to establish exactly what transpired inside the room before she was rushed to the hospital.

According to Patrick Onyango, KMP Police spokesperson, two prime suspects are currently in police custody: Edward Mugabi and Joseph Kalenzi, both of whom were present when the incident occurred. The police have yet to release further details about their involvement, as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, forensic pathologists from the government analytical lab have already collected internal organs from the deceased for examination. However, the autopsy report is still awaited. The authorities have stressed the importance of conducting thorough investigations to determine the exact cause of death.

During the burial ceremony in Nyarubanga Parish, Mbarara, on Sunday,  Seth Murari expressed his frustration at the irresponsible use of social media, where some individuals have exploited his daughter’s death to spread rumors and seek attention.

“Stop using my daughter’s death to gain likes and spread false information. It is painful enough to lose a child, but when people mock us online, it pushes us to the limit,” Murari said, urging social media users to show humanity in their posts.

The family is waiting for the official police report to clarify the cause of death. Preliminary details from doctors at Kampala Hospital indicate that Ahumuza had fluid in her lungs and internal bleeding on the brain, suggesting that the cause of death may have been a serious medical emergency.

As the family seeks closure, police investigations are ongoing to uncover the truth behind this tragic and mysterious death.
