Kassanda District police are investigating the murder of Ivan Ahimbisibwe, aged 30, the proprietor of E-Zone Bar and Lodges in Lugongwe Trading Center, Kijuna Subcounty.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. when Murundi Fabrice, accompanied by his girlfriend Namukisa Pofia, visited Ahimbisibwe’s bar. Ahimbisibwe, reportedly offered a beer to the woman, which angered her boyfriend. A confrontation ensued outside the bar, resulting in a fist fight. The woman later left them fighting and returned home.

Ahimbisibwe’s barmaids became concerned when he failed to return. A search revealed his lifeless body in a bush, with multiple cuts on his face.

Police were alerted by Senyonjo Isaiah, and the homicide team dispatched by DPC Kassanda apprehended two suspects believed to be involved: Murundi Fabrice, who was found at a clinic receiving treatment for injuries, and Namukisa Pofia, arrested at her Lugongwe residence.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kassanda Health Center IV for a post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing.

SSP Lamech Kigozi, PRO for Wamala Region, confirmed the arrests and said the police are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
