A Makerere university student has gone missing from his rental under unclear circumstances.

Augustine Ssekajigo, a student doing his bachelor’s degree in dental surgery student dissappeared on on May 02,2023 from his residence at Kikoni Zone B , Makerere.

“At lunch time he packed his computer and left for lectures. He never came back. Previously, he would go spend two days away and later return but this time it is a week and we don’t know where he is.” said a neighbour

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson says Ssekajigo was last spotted by his close neighbours at about 1pm leaving his room, reportedly to attend lectures. He says since then Ssekajigo never returned and efforts by relatives and friends to locate him have been futile since his mobile phones were left at the rental room.

Onyango says since then Ssekajigo never returned and efforts by relatives and friends to locate him have been futile since his mobile phones were left at the rental room.

“Ssekajigo’s neighbour, a fellow student  in Kikoni zone B last saw him  at around 1pm leaving his rented room to go for lectures but he never returned. Relatives have tried to look for him but nowhere to find him. The neighbour broke the door of his room and found the two phones of Ssekajigo had been left behind” says Onyango

Onyango says his relatives were compelled to file a case of a missing person at Wandegeya police station on May, 7, after searching for Ssekajigo’s body in vain. The police have since retrieved CCTV footage to ascertain his movements but in vain.

“We have tried our level best by reviewing CCTV cameras but haven’t got any leads to his whereabouts. We urge anyone who knows the whereabouts to report to Wandegeya police station,” Onyango said.

Ssekajigo’s friends and neighbours fear that he could have been kidnapped and worse dead.

“We fear for his life and suspect he could have been kidnapped. We don’t think as an adult he can’t just go missing.”
