Security leaders in Wobulenzi town council, Luwero district are demanding all premises to deploy over one guard to avoid further attacks.

This development follows an incident at Advance Smart Micro Finance located in Modern Zone in Wobulenzi town where a guard attached to SGA Security Company was attacked and his gun stolen.

Leone Odongo, 20, was killed on Wednesday at 12:30 pm after a man disguised as mentally impaired moving with a black polythene bag with rubbish wrestled him to the ground before grabbing his gun and shooting at him.

The suspect who is yet to be identified fled the scene with the gun and police are still hunting for him.

Now, Richard Bwabye the Luwero Resident District Commissioner says the security guard fell prey to the attack because he was guarding the bank alone. He says since police Stations and other security institutions remain alert, thugs are now targeting  private security guards to rob guns.

Bwabye has also tasked the District Police Commander to ensure that all private premises are guarded by at least two guards henceforth to avoid a repeat of the same incident.

The Inspector General of Police, Martins Okoth Ochola recently directed security companies to deploy two guards and ensure that security officers move in groups to avoid attacks from assailants interested in gun theft.

Meanwhile, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson Patrick Lule says that both the  microfinance institution and security company may be charged with negligence
