Ben Kumumanya, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, has highlighted the remarkable progress and impact of the Regional Development Program (RDP) during the 2020–2024 implementation period.

Kumumanya was addressing participants at the Joint Regional Development Program Annual Review, where he commended the strong collaboration among government institutions that enabled the successful execution of the program with an approved budget of sh3.8 trillion, achieving 89% release and 95% absorption rates.

Through this effort, the RDP delivered tangible results that improved livelihoods and strengthened local economies across the country.

Over 3,800Km of community access roads were constructed and rehabilitated in 80 districts, 237 school facilities and market infrastructures have been established, and improved agricultural inputs distributed to boost productivity and food security. The program has also invested in agro-processing facilities to promote value addition and supported digital innovations that empowered small and medium enterprises, especially those led by women and youth.
