Killed Notorious ADF Commander Carried Out Several Planned Bomb Attacks In Uganda

The security forces are celebrating a significant achievement in the fight against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) with the killing of Meddie Nkalubo, in airstrikes conducted by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) inside the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

President Museveni confirmed on Saturday that Nkalubo, also known as “The Punisher,” “Mohammed Ali Nkalubo,” “Abul Jihad,” and “Punny Boy,” was killed in airstrikes targeting new ADF hideouts in the DRC.

Enanga praised the UPDF for its successful airstrikes on the ADF hideout, resulting in the elimination of Nkalubo and several of his fighters. He confirmed that operations aimed at rooting out ADF sleeper cells within Uganda would continue.

While addressing journalists at the police headqurters on Monday, Police spokesperson on behalf of the Joint security Fred Enanga, described this development as a major step toward completely eradicating the ADF group.

Enanga said that Nkalubo played a pivotal role in planning and commanding ADF attacks, and his death is a severe blow to the ADF’s operational capabilities in both the DRC and Uganda.

“On September 16, 2023, the UPDF Airforce carried out and killed ADF commander Nkalabo as indicated by the President. Nkalubo was one of the perpetrators of the deadly attacks in Komamboga, the bomb blast on a bus in Mpigi, the suicide bomb attacks at CPS and parliamentary Avenue. He was key in the ADF operations because of his ability to  plan and coordinate terrorist operations,” he says

He added :”His death has dealt a very significant blow to the ADF and degraded its ability to operate in the DRC and Uganda”

Enanga revealed that operatives from the Crime Intelligence Directorate have recently arrested three suspected ADF members from  September 17 to 19 , 2023, who were linked to attacks on police stations in the past year. The suspects had fled to Mbale and Bukedea after their leader was killed in Mityana.

“The suspects fled after their leader was killed in Mityana, they had established a cell in Mbale” he said

Additionally, Enanga says the Joint Anti-terrorism Task Force arrested two high-profile ADF members last week in Kyankwanzi district who had acquired land in Kyenda trading center after escaping from Lwengo.

He explains that joint security agencies are committed to monitoring areas where ADF remnants are suspected to be hiding and ensuring they are apprehended and prosecuted.
