KCCA To Construct Over 40 Modern Public Toilets in Kampala

The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has announced plans to construct over 40 modern public toilets across all the five divisions of Kampala.

The revelation was made by the Executive Director KCCA Dorothy Kisaka during celebrations to mark World Toilet Day on at Nakawa Market on November 19.

On that day, KCCA officials and workers from the five divisions of Kampala City conducted a cleaning exercise at public sanitary facilities.

Kisaka told the public that the authority is in its final stages of the project and is partnering with National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and the Kampala-Lake Victoria Sanitation Project (K-LVWATSAN) to put up the modern toilets.

She explains that this is also in line with the smart city project to place Kampala City development at a high standard.

“We are building a smart city, a transformational initiative that will change the way in which the city functions to make Kampala more inclusive, safe, sustainable, efficient, resilient and ultimately a better place to live, work and play,” Kisaka said.

So far, KCCA has constructed 44 modern toilets inclusive, gender friendly, climate resilient toilet stances and 53 toilets under the city-wide inclusive sanitation program.
