Kasese District Police Probe Five Christmas Day Deaths

Kasese district police are investigating a series of tragic events that unfolded on Christmas day, resulting in a total of five recorded deaths.

Luke Mbusa, the spokesperson for Rwenzori West police, revealed that the fatalities are linked to both suicide by hanging and suspected murders.

In Nyabugando cell, located in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese district, the community was shocked to discover the lifeless body of a 20-year-old man hanging from a rope in a nearby garden.

Mbusa shared that preliminary findings suggest suicide, potentially stemming from a misunderstanding with the deceased’s girlfriend. Although specific details regarding names and the nature of the altercation leading to the tragic event were not disclosed by Mbusa, local residents claim that the young man had a heated exchange with his partner just hours before the incident.

Despite the speculation of a relationship-related motive, the family of the deceased remains skeptical about the circumstances surrounding his death, raising questions about the alleged misunderstanding with his girlfriend.

Mbusa also reported another incident in Bugoye village, where an unidentified man was found dead on someone’s verandah under mysterious circumstances. The police are actively investigating the matter, and the deceased’s body has been transferred to Buwera hospital mortuary, pending a postmortem examination.

Additionally, a tragic accident unfolded as a drunken man accidentally fell into a water channel, resulting in drowning. Simultaneously, another incident involved locals engaging in an act of mob justice. The police are examining both cases to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding these unfortunate events.
