The Police in Kamuli District have arrested a 40-year-old woman over allegations of attempted murder following a domestic altercation that left her husband critically injured.

The suspect, only identified as Rehema, is alleged to have attacked her husband, Masanka Richard, 60, a resident of Busoigo Cell, Kasoigo Ward in Kamuli Municipality, on the night of June 6, 2025.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred at around 11:00 PM when Masanka retired to bed, leaving his wife outside. Moments later, she reportedly entered the bedroom, attempted to strangle him, and went on to mutilate his genitals, removing his left testicle.

The victim was rushed to Kwagala Medical Centre in Buwengempya for emergency treatment before being referred to Kamuli General Hospital, where he is currently receiving further medical care.

In a statement issued on Saturday, ASP Kasadha Micheal, the Police Spokesperson for Busoga North region, confirmed the incident and condemned the act.

“We strongly condemn this attack and similar acts of violence. We are treating this case with utmost seriousness and are committed to ensuring that justice is served,” ASP Kasadha said.

He further urged couples experiencing domestic disagreements to seek peaceful avenues of conflict resolution such as counseling or legal mediation, warning that acts of violence destroy lives and tear families apart.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and police have launched further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the case.

The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.
