Kampala Northern Bypass Maintenance Works Set to Begin December 28
The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced plans to start phase one maintenance works along the Kampala Northern Bypass come December 28th, 2024.
In conjunction with the Uganda Police Force and Stirring Civil Engineering Limited, the ministry has informed all road users of the planned resumption of Phase One of the maintenance works.
In the statement issued on December 27, 2024, Edward Katumba Wamala, minister of works and transport, stated that phase one (21 km) of the project will last 6 months.
The road maintenance works will focus on sections between the Kisaasi and Busega interchanges where old asphalt will be removed and the base will be processed, primed, and overlaid with new asphalt.
“The affected carriageway sections will be fully closed for safety and efficiency, with traffic diverted to the opposite side. The closure will be in effect day and night during the works,” Katumba said.
According to Katumba, the opposite side of the road will be available for diversion, and users are advised to plan their journeys and use alternative routes to avoid delays.
Road users are advised to exercise maximum caution and adhere to the traffic and safety measures in place to minimize travel inconveniences.
