Uganda-South Sudan to Evaluate Border Protocol
The First Deputy PM Kadaga identified loopholes in infrastructure management, cross-border trading, and traveler issues.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga, addressed a joint border evaluation meeting focusing on the common market protocol between Uganda and the Republic of South Sudan.
The meeting was attended by border officials and traders from both countries.
During the meeting, Minister Kadaga identified loopholes in infrastructure management, cross-border trading, and traveler issues. She emphasized the need for these areas to be addressed.
Kadaga reiterated the importance of the Republic of South Sudan adhering to and implementing the Customs Union as outlined in the treaty.
On September 5, 2016, the Republic of South Sudan became the sixth state to join the East African Community, and on April 5, 2016, it acceded to the treaty.
