Kabalagala Couple Knifed to Death in Suspected Murder
Police in Kampala are investigating the death of a couple residing in Mosque Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District.
The deceased are Senkungu Arnold, a 24-year-old barber, and Atwine Shina, a 21-year-old student, who were found critically injured and dead respectively on December 27, 2023.
Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson says the incident unfolded at Senkungu’s residence in Kabalagala, where the couple was discovered in distress by their concerned neighbor, Sserunjoji Frank.
Owoyesigyire says Sserunjoji mada an alarm when fresh blood was noticed, and the doors were found locked. Fearing the worst, neighbors rallied to force entry into the residence.
The neighbours found Senkungu alive with multiple wounds on his body, but he succumbed to injuries at Kibuli Hospital. He says Atwine was discovered lifeless, bearing a deep neck wound that spoke of a violent struggle.
Owoyesigyire says police swiftly responded to the distress call and the crime scene revealed signs of a fierce struggle, with a new knife stained with fresh blood becoming a pivotal piece of evidence. Statements from witnesses were taken.
Police say Senkungu’s multiple injuries, hinted at a violent confrontation.
He adds that Initial reports suggest that the couple may have been experiencing marital issues, and Atwine Shina had reportedly confided in a friend about mistreatment.
“The purchase of a new knife, potentially indicating premeditation, adds complexity to the investigation. As authorities delve deeper into the case, the motive behind the murder remains under investigation. More details are expected to be made available as the inquiry progresses.” said Owoyesigyire
The bodies of Senkungu Arnold and Atwine Shina currently rest at City Mortuary, pending a thorough post-mortem examination.
