The 12th annual Kabaka Birthday Run (KBR) was launched at Bulange, Mengo, reaffirming its commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS while celebrating Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 70th birthday.
Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro of Buganda, emphasized the need to sustain efforts in combating HIV/AIDS, marking the sixth year of this cause. “HIV affects everyone, and we must fight it together,” he stated, appreciating partners like Airtel Uganda and I&M Bank.
A Grand Celebration for Kabaka’s 70th Birthday
Oweek. Prof. Twaha Kigongo Kaawaase the Deputy Katikkiro invited all to join the celebrations at Lubiri. “This year’s run is unique. Let’s make it a grand occasion,” he urged. Oweek. Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga the Minister for Sports in Buganda Kingdom confirmed that the run would meet international standards.

Registration & Official Kit Details
The official KBR 2025 kit, priced at 20,000 UGX, is available at selected Airtel shops. Participants can also pay via Airtel’s *1855# and collect kits at Airtel’s Wampewo shop. The run is set for April 6, 2025.
In closing, Mayiga encouraged all to prioritize HIV prevention. “Get circumcised, use condoms, abstain where necessary, and get tested. Let’s work together for a healthier Uganda.”
