Juche: The Best Ideology for National Preservation

All states world over seek power. It is the first and last principle of state behavior, all States seek to increase their power; and to decrease the power of their enemies; and everything they do is in the name of amassing power, and they see other powerful states as rivals because when power is not in your hands, it is a threat. People are greedy, insecure, and aggressive, so the states they govern will have those same characteristics.

This doesn’t mean war, however; there can be peace, but a durable peace is based upon a stable balance of power – the big players in the international systems are roughly equal in power resources, so therefore no one thinks they can win a war. If you don’t think you can win a war, you generally don’t start one. All the embassies and consolers you see around you are there for this sole purpose to protect and promote the interests of the home country, not the host nation. State interests often include self-preservation, military security, economic prosperity, and influence over other states.

Therefore, we must understand that the world is a harsh and dangerous place, where the only certainty in the world is power, and so a powerful state will always be able to outdo—and outlast—weaker competitors and the most important and reliable form of power is military power. Sometimes I laugh when I see our citizens including elite group roasting our leadership in Uganda for putting a good percentage of our national budget into defense and security and I wonder if they understand that we live in an anarchy world system. And a state’s primary interest is self-preservation. Therefore, the state must seek power and must always protect itself for there is no overarching power that can enforce global rules or punish bad behavior.

We must also have it in mind that Moral behavior is very risky because it can undermine a state’s ability to protect itself.

As states pursue this goal of self-preservation; each adopts an ideology or even a foreign policy agenda that can easily make it realize its ultimate goal and ensure that its bigger national interests are promoted, protected, and achieved, no matter how big or small a country is striving for self-preservation.

However one of the countries that have mastered the art of self-preservation and adopted a masterstroke ideology that has left the whole world in awe is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) who right from the 1950s realized that they were in danger of annihilation if they don’t work towards self-preservation and fight to protect themselves from an angry aggressor supported by a powerful imperialist from the Northern hemisphere; they picked an ideology that became to be known as Juche and mobilized every citizen young and old to support and refocus all their effort and abilities in preaching Juche idea and living it in their daily lives, and supporting the leadership with no question if they are to survive the onslaught that was heading their way, and after close to 6o yrs of implementing and living a Juche guided life, DPRK is a force to reckon with.

Juche idea is a new philosophical thought which centers on man. As the founding leader of DPRK once said, the Juche idea is based on the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything. The Juche idea raised the fundamental question of philosophy by regarding man as the main factor, and elucidated the philosophical principle that man is the master of everything and decides everything.

That man is the master of everything means that he is the master of the world and of his own destiny; that man decides everything means that he plays a decisive role in transforming the world and in shaping his own destiny.

The philosophical principle of the Juche idea is the principle of man-centered philosophy which explains man’s position and role in the world.  It should be clear that man is a social being with Chajusong, creativity and consciousness.

Juche ideology asserts that man was already outstanding as he emerged from the world of nature, that he exists and develops by cognizing and changing the world to make it serve him, whereas all other material lives maintain their existence through their subordination and adaptation to the objective world.

It further notes that man holds a special position and plays a special role as master of the world because he is a social being with Chajusong, creativity and consciousness. The Juche idea gives a new philosophical conception of man by defining Chajusong, creativity and consciousness as the essential features of man, the social being. That Chajusong, creativity and consciousness are man’s social qualities that take shape and develop socially and historically.  That man alone in the world lives and conducts the activity in social relationships and maintains his existence and achieves his aim only socially. Chajusong, creativity and consciousness are peculiar to man, the social being. Man is a being with Chajusong, that is, an independent social being.

Chajusong is an attribute of social man who is desirous of living and developing in an independent way as master of the world and his own destiny. On the strength of this quality, man throws off the fetters of nature, opposes social subjugation of all forms and puts everything at his own service. Chajusong is the life and soul of man the social being. When Chajusong is referred to as man’s life and soul, it means social and political integrity. Man has a physical life and also social and political integrity; the physical life is what keeps a man alive as biological organism; social and political integrity is what keeps him alive as social being..

Creativity is an attribute of a social man who transforms the world and shapes his destiny purposefully and consciously. By virtue of his creativity, man transforms nature and society to be more useful and beneficial to him by changing the old and creating the new.

With this idea in every Korean citizen’s mind, DPRK even under the watchful eye of its enemies in the south and northern hemisphere has rallied its population behind the three-generational leadership with no much destructive internal contradictions and it has been able to emerge as a superpower with the means and capability to defend its territorial rights against any foreign aggression, under heavy sanctions DPRK has been able to ensure self-preservation because it used a right ideology and said no to subjugation, and thus determining its own path with no foreign dictates for they understood that they themselves are responsible for their survival and destiny, no one else would. They understood early enough that the world is a harsh and dangerous place with no rules of engagement to protect an individual nation against annihilation by a powerful one

Most of the African countries and elsewhere are obsessed with ideas from Europe and America without even questioning the ultimate intentions and properly analyzing whether they can work in their countries social dynamics, but because they have been forced to do a bandwagoning since it comes as a form of appeasement as the band Wagoner may hope to avoid an attack by diverting it elsewhere forgetting that this keeps them on someone else`s leash.

The president of Uganda just like those before him, has been preaching pan Africanism thinking that through Pan African Ideology the continent may be able to fend off any kind of subjugation and achieve total independence in all spheres and be able to take their front seat at the table of men on the world stage, he sees a continent that just like Juche preaches able to provide for its people, solve its own problems no matter the magnitude and be in charge of its own destiny as man is a master of his own destiny (Juche), however, he has continued to be a loner in this long journey, internally people don’t listen to his wise counsel because they are so much obsessed with western lifestyle and ideas, thus we have failed to have massive support of the idea that would have delivered us all as black people from the bondage of western imperialism to total independence as DPRK did.

As a continent we have accepted and are very comfortable in our small enclaves we call countries as they were portioned during the Berlin conference and we have failed to come up with a guiding ideology for the entire continent that would rally everyone behind a leader of our choice and ensure our self-preservation, this is why we are engaged in unending conflicts with a foreign hand because it is very easy for one to be dictated upon by the western masters with no choice, but to dance to their tune, if you are no economically, socially, religiously and even militarily independent, how then will they refuse the foreign imported idea that has no intention of preserving an African man, but subjugating him further.

It is now or never that as a generation we must wake up and rally behind an idea that will in the long run ensure our self-preservation as people of African descent, or else we and those after us will remain subjugated and we can only blame ourselves.

In few months to come as a nation, we will be going to the polls to elect our next leadership, as citizens we must elect leaders who can ensure our self-preservation, leading a nation is not a game of cards where luck is invoked, it is a serious business. We need to elect a leader who can strategically plan and execute national missions with precision, and see us through the anarchy world systems intact.

DPRK did it using Juche as an idea and see how far they have moved, just last week they displayed their military might to the world and everyone remained envious of their achievement in the field of military technology, we can adopt therefore as a continent or individual countries decide to adopt juche like philosophy and we will at the end become victorious, they did it so can we do it as a continent.

Man will always be a master of his own destiny as it was intended right from creation time.
