Joint Operation Nets 70 Alleged Criminals in Kampala

Police have arrested 70 suspects on allegations of waylaynig and robbing people.

The suspects were arrested on Intelligence led information in Kiira and Namugongo areas.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson the Kampala Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson the suspects target their victims along the northern bypass (Kiira Road) and surrounding areas like Kimbejja, Kyaliwajala, and Namugongo (Kiira Division),

He reveals that fifteen were arrested along the northern bypass and are currently held at Kiira Road, while 55 others were captured from areas including Nalya, Kyaliwajjala, Kimbejja, and Namugongo, and are detained at Kiira Division. These suspects are undergoing screening and are scheduled to appear in court.

This operation was carried out in collaboration with local councils, PISOS, GISO, CMI, UPDF, CI, and area Police following growing concerns fron the public posed by the criminal elements.

Owoyesigyire further notes that as preparations intensify for the upcoming Martyr’s Day activities on June 3rd, 2024, targeted operations will continue to be conducted to safeguard the well-being of residents and maintain public order.
