First Lady, Janet Museveni was joined by counterparts from the Non-Aligned Movement and G77 + China countries for a visit to the Entebbe Children’s Surgical Hospital.

This hospital, established in collaboration with the Italian organization EMERGENCY and the Ugandan government in 2021, has become a force in improving the health and well-being of Uganda’s youth.

With more than half of Uganda’s population under the age of 15, the focus on pediatric health is crucial.

The Children’s Surgical Hospital in Entebbe was initiated to provide free pediatric surgical care in a country where child mortality rates are alarmingly high, standing at 43 for every 1,000 live births.

Uganda’s First Lady, Janet Museveni, expressed her commitment to this cause, stating,

“The hospital is a state-of-the-art facility, operating on hundreds of young patients annually, addressing various complications from across Africa.”

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister for Health, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the hospital’s role as a point of reference in Uganda for elective pediatric surgery.

Operations are meticulously planned through waiting lists, systematically addressing deep-seated problems not only in Uganda but also in neighboring countries.

President of Entebbe Children’s Surgical Hospital, Fabrice Brad Rulinda, highlighted the significance of the facility, stating,

“We operate as a beacon of hope, extending our healing touch to children from all corners of Africa.”

H.E Mauro Massoni, the Italian Ambassador, commended the collaboration, emphasizing the international importance of the hospital.

The visiting delegates, including Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng and Fabrice Brad Rulinda, expressed their admiration for Uganda’s commitment to child health. Dr. Aceng stated,

“The hospital is a testament to Uganda’s dedication to the well-being of its youth and serves as a model for the entire continent.”

The Italian Ambassador, H.E Mauro Massoni, acknowledged the global impact of the facility, emphasizing its role in providing care to the entire African continent.

This collaborative effort between Uganda and its international partners has garnered praise for establishing a state-of-the-art facility that not only addresses the immediate health needs of the nation but also serves as a beacon of hope for the youth of Africa.

Entebbe Children’s Surgical Hospital stands as a testament to the power of international collaboration in fostering positive change and healing for the next generation.
