Janet Museveni, NAM Delegates hail Success of Children’s Surgical Hospital
First Lady, Janet Museveni was joined by counterparts from the Non-Aligned Movement and G77 + China countries for a visit to the Entebbe Children’s Surgical Hospital.
This hospital, established in collaboration with the Italian organization EMERGENCY and the Ugandan government in 2021, has become a force in improving the health and well-being of Uganda’s youth.
With more than half of Uganda’s population under the age of 15, the focus on pediatric health is crucial.
The Children’s Surgical Hospital in Entebbe was initiated to provide free pediatric surgical care in a country where child mortality rates are alarmingly high, standing at 43 for every 1,000 live births.
Uganda’s First Lady, Janet Museveni, expressed her commitment to this cause, stating,
“The hospital is a state-of-the-art facility, operating on hundreds of young patients annually, addressing various complications from across Africa.”
Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister for Health, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the hospital’s role as a point of reference in Uganda for elective pediatric surgery.
Operations are meticulously planned through waiting lists, systematically addressing deep-seated problems not only in Uganda but also in neighboring countries.

“We operate as a beacon of hope, extending our healing touch to children from all corners of Africa.”
