Jack Sabiiti Accuses Besigye of Divisions calls for Unity Amidst Alleged NUP Endorsement

The National Chairman of the Najjanakumbi faction of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC),Jack Sabiiti has accused four-time presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye of fostering selfishness, causing chaos, and creating divisions within the party.

Sabiiti, also the former Member of Parliament for Rukiga, made these remarks while addressing FDC delegates from Greater Kabale at Kings Hotel in Kabale Municipality. He accused Besigye of employing tactics to abandon FDC and endorse the National Unity Platform (NUP) in the 2026 elections.

Furthermore, Sabiiti alleged that Besigye harbored intentions of undermining and taking ownership of the FDC, which he argued was contrary to the party’s constitution. He emphasized that the party’s headquarters remain at Najjanankumbi, not Katonga, and clarified that no individual can claim ownership of the party.

Expressing regret for his past support to Besigye, Sabiiti highlighted his commitment to upholding the party’s constitution. He urged Western Uganda FDC supporters to remain steadfast, united, and supportive rather than forming factions.

Robert Centenary, the former Member of Parliament for Kasese municipality, criticized FDC delegates from Kigezi Sub-region for their reluctance to participate in the election of structures due to fears of clashing with Besigye. Centenary urged party members to focus on establishing structures for the term ahead, emphasizing the importance of constructive engagement over engaging in factional debates.
