A lawyer working with Owoyesigire & Co Advocates has this morning been injured outside his office on Access Building, Rubaga Road opposite Hotel Sojovalo by a private security guard.
The lawyer identified as Wilbert Muhereza was injured after a bullet from the guard’s gun hit a pavement and deflected back hitting him on the arm.
The guard attached to Securex Company was arrested and is detained at Old Kampala Police station, while the lawyer is currently receiving treatment at Lubaga Hospital.
The guard whose names have not yet been revealed by Police told investigators that the lawyer asked him to demonstrate how the gun works. He reportedly said he removed the magazine of the gun, pointed it in an opposite direction and fired the bullet in the chamber. Unfortunately it bounced back and hit the lawyer.
The Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima says, the investigations have commenced.
“The lawyer was injured by a bullet shot when a security guard was allegedly handling his weapon which discharged a bullet, injuring the lawyer at Access Building at Kabakanjagala road, Rubaga Division, Kampala. The gun too is in the hands of the police as an exhibit in this investigation,” Kayima says.
