How Besigye, Bobi Wine Are in Kenya as Election Observers

Several teams have dispatched  election observers to monitor the elections including; African Union(AU), European Union(EU) and the East African Community EAC among others.

Its just a matter of hours before the neighbouring Kenya goes to the polls to choose the next president.

The elections that are highly contested between the Deputy President William Ruto,55, and Opposition strongman William Ruto, 77, happen on on Tuesday August 09, 2022.

Kenyans will also vote for governors, senators, members of the national assembly, and members of the county assembly.

Several teams have dispatched  election observers to monitor the elections including; African Union(AU), European Union(EU) and the East African Community EAC among others.

The leader of the National Unity Platform(NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and the leader of People’s Front for Transition, Dr. Kizza Besigye are also currently  in Kenya to observe the elections.

The duo is part of a 36 man team of observers under Brentthrust foundation, led by former Ethiopian Prime Minister Haliemariam Desalgen. 

The delegation has prominent African leaders that have been invited as special election observers in the looming Kenyan polls. 

Bobi Wine says his team has already interacted with the presidential candidate William Ruto and he hopes the country will have a free, fair and peaceful elections.

Other candidates vying for the country’s top seat include; David Mwaure in his sixth attempt and Law professor George Wajackoyah.

Although Deputy President Ruto, 55 and veteran opposition leader Odinga, 77, are leading in opinion polls in the race to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto calls himself the “Hustler-in-Chief,” a reference to his humble beginnings as a chicken seller in Kenya’s Rift Valley to a heartbeat away from the most powerful office in the land.

 

“I may be the child of nobody but we want to make this a country of everybody.We want to make this country a country of opportunity for every child in Kenya.”,” the Kenyan deputy president says

 

“I had considered not running this time but there was a lot of pressure on me from my supporters to run because of what I represent,” he says

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other Ugandan politicians on the same team include; the secretary general of NUP David Lewis Rubongoya, Elone Natumanya, Coordinator Uganda Parliamentary affairs on youth.
