Police in Mukono are looking for unidentified gunmen for robbing 30 million shillings from a sales agent attached to a beer depot in Mbalala.

The incident happened on Tuesday at 9:30 pm at Kiteega village when Okidi Gerald a salesman attached to Premids ltd Depot was stabbed and robbed from a Tata Lorry Registration Number UBL 557W.

The thugs waylaid one Makuba Henry, a driver of a Tata lorry registration number UBL 557W carrying the beer from premids LTD Depot at Mbalala. He was in the company of a salesman identified as Okidi Gerald and Manager Obwin Christopher , alongside three other loaders including Mukwata Patrick,  Kigayi Stephen and Waibi Ayub

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says the team was transporting the beer for supply around Mukono. He says the manager  Obwini kept collecting the cash from supplies and depositing it at a mobile money agent at Kiteega village.

Onyango says when it clocked 9:30pm, Obwin again left the truck with others to deposit money, leaving Okidi, the salesman, back. He explains that Okidi was attacked by armed gunmen clad in black jackets who demanded money from him.

He further explains that when Okidi tried to resist handing over 30 million shillings in his possession, the thugs stabbed him with a sharp object on the ribs and fired live bullets before fleeing with the cash on a numberless motorcycle.

He is currently admitted at Sir Albert General Clinic and Nursing Home Mukono.

Onyango says a team of Police officers led by District Police Commisioner Mukono SP E.Kyeyune visited the scene of crime and six cartridges were recovered from the scene.
