Security minister Hon Gen Elly Tumwine is astounded by Dokolo Woman MP Cecilia Ogwal’s claim that the UPDF General put her on gunpoint.

The General who was interacting with journalists in Mbarara on Thursday morning rubbished the claims as false and malicious, wondering what the female legislator’s motive is.

Gen Tumwine also questions why she brings up an issue that she says happened 15yrs ago, “which by the way didn’t.

The General maintains that he adheres to the UPDF code of conduct which he has been loyal to since joining the army, adding that he is a very well trained soldier who knows how and when to use his gun.

The General cited a bible verse, urging those witch-hunting him to read it: “tell the truth and it will set you free”.

The law of natural justice should have been followed, better to listen to both sides and after judgement can be passed, Gen Tumwine told journalists.

The UPDF MP said he was from duty and entered parliament, only to find the issue being discussed on the floor of parliament, something that surprised him.

He explained that he is willing and ready to face the disciplinary committee and is sure he will be proven right.

Gen Tumwine, however, expressed shock and disappointment at the actions of his comrades in the August house.
