Gov’t To Renovate Kambuga Hospital, Where Minister Baryomunsio Was Admitted

The Ministry of Finance has revealed plans to refurbish Kambuga Hospital, the health facility where ICT Minister Chris Baryomunsi was first hospitalized following a health condition.

Last week while performing his Member of Parliament duties in Kinkizi East, Kanungu District,  Baryomunsi suddenly collapsed and was admitted at the facility before being airlifted to Mulago National Referral Hospital for specialized treatment.

While appearing before the Parliamentary Budget Committee on Tuesday, State Minister for Finance in charge of General Duties Henry Musasizi said Shs 20 billion has been allocated in the budget to rehabilitate Kambuga Hospital.

“Yes, as you saw it there is great need to rehabilitate the hospital and this financial year, we provided 20 billion shillings to rehabilitate Kambuga Hospital, so the plans are underway,” he said.

Kambuga is a government facility in Kambuga sub-county, Kanungu District serving a population of over 500,000 patients annually, referred from Nyakibale and Kisiizi hospitals in the Rukungiri district. It was constructed in 1965.
