Government Collaborates with Church of Uganda to Register Land Titles
The Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development is undertaking a significant initiative to register and issue land titles and customary certificates of ownership for land owned by the Church of Uganda (COU).
Under this new development, the church has been assigned the responsibility of forming a team to collaborate with a task force from the lands ministry.
Their joint task will be to identify all land without titles across different dioceses nationwide.
Minister of Lands Judith Nabakooba expressed her support for this endeavor during a meeting with the permanent secretary and technical team, emphasizing the importance of assisting churches in registering their land.
Nabakooba addressed 40 bishops from the 39 dioceses of the COU during a three-day retreat at the Lweza Training and Conference Centre in Wakiso District, where she made these remarks.
She urged the church to ensure that its trustees are regularly updated and submit annual returns.
